Start a bank? I’m sure you’re wondering whether I’ve finally lost all my marbles. Well, not just yet. I’m referring to one of those areas that seems to cause small businesses a lot of headaches. It also costs them more money than it should. I’m talking about obtaining images – photographic or illustrations – for use on websites, marketing literature etc.

Far too often, I see instances of SMEs using generic photography on their website that is obviously from a photo library. You know the sort of thing: people and situations that are obviously American, unnatural poses and forced facial expressions. Worst of all is the fact that you just know you’ve seen the same, or similar images before – perhaps on a competitor’s site.

It doesn’t have to be like this. You could get potentially hundreds of engaging images that are uniquely representative of your business, for less than the cost of a few quality library photos. How? Start an image bank. Like this:

Do this and you should get a set of original, high quality, digital images that will be unique to your business. You will be able to use them again and again, without extra cost.

Or, you could go on using generic and more expensive stock library images. You decide.
