If you get the chance to visit London’s National Gallery, check out a little gem, a self-portrait by Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun. Not only is it a beautifully painted picture, but her story, as a rare example of a celebrated and admired woman painter in 18th century Europe is a remarkable one. Brave, talented and a pioneer – doesn’t get much better than that.
