My first trip to Scunthorpe’s very interesting 20/21 arts centre introduced me to some thought-provoking work. Most interesting we’re Alexis Rago’s intricate ceramic sculptures. These are elaborate constructions that reference ideas from life science, evolution, anthropology and sacred art, then leaves it open to the viewer to decide what the work might be. The works reference fantastic artificial fossils, ivory carvings and ritualistic objects.
20/21 Visual Arts Centre, Scunthorpe, until 19 July.
